How Good is The Annals of Sherlock Holmes by Paul D. Gilbert?

The Annals of Sherlock Holmes is a spin off by Paul D. Gilbert that covers some of the cases that were mentioned in passing in the original works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You can read this on Hublmedia – an eBook reader site. This collection of spin-offs sums up to a total of three novels which were mentioned in passing in the original books.

The first one deals with The Dundas Separation case which is based on two stories mentioned in the original works. The story telling is quite compelling and also perfectly matches the Sherlock Holmes universe that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created. Critics also claim their writing styles to be somewhat similar.

The Abernetty Mystery is up next and combines Holmes deductive reasoning skills with some lighthearted humor. It is compelling again as far as story-telling is concerned. The third and the final mystery in the book is titled The Adventure of the Reluctant Spirit. In yet another gripping tale, Paul tells of a spiritualist who is helping Mrs. Cecil Foster (Mary Watson's previous employer) to get in touch with her dead daughter. The story is yet another tale of twists and turns with an ambiguous ending.
